There were 37 more Covid-19 fatalities and 2,862 new cases registered during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry said on Tuesday morning.
There were 2,845 cases in the general population and 17 among prison inmates.
This compared with 23 coronavirus-related fatalities and 3,398 new cases reported on Monday morning.
On Monday, 4,818 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 2,174,906 Covid-19 cases, with 2,106,144 complete recoveries so far.
The vast majority of the Covid cases and deaths have occurred since April 1, around when the third wave of Covid-19 began.
The death toll stood at 21,137 during the third wave and 21,231 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The kingdom’s 24-hour high of Covid-19 fatalities was 312 recorded on Aug 13. The highest number of cases was 23,418 on Aug 13.
The 37 new fatalities were between the ages of 25 and 95 years and included a Myanmar national.
Bangkok logged the most deaths, 12, while other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded eight more – in Chon Buri (2), Kanchanaburi (1), Chanthaburi (1), Trat (1), Nakhon Nayok (1), Lop Buri (1) and Sa Kaeo (1).
The Northeast had one more fatality, in Loei.
The South reported five more deaths – in Pattani (2), Satun (2) and Trang (1).
The North saw 11 fatalities – in Chiang Mai (5), Phetchabun (2), Chiang Rai (1), Mae Hong Son (1), Kamphaeng Phet (1) and Tak (1).
The 2,862 new cases included 2,826 local infections and 19 imported cases.
Of the local infections, 2,799 were confirmed at hospitals and 27 via mass testing.
Bangkok had 570 new cases, followed by 225 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 136 in Chon Buri, 119 in Songkhla, 106 in Surat Thani, 102 in Samut Prakan, 93 in Chiang Mai, 70 in Trang, 62 in Nakhon Ratchasima and 61 each in Krabi and Nakhon Sawan.
The 19 imported cases were from Russia (2), Germany (4), Spain (2), the United Kingdom (4), Cambodia (1), Pakistan (1), Belgium (1), Israel (2) and the United States (2).
On Monday 47,531 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals (down from 49,524 on the previous day), including 1,039 seriously ill patients (down from 1,061) and 296 dependent on ventilators (down from 307).
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 455,043 in 24 hours to 271.06 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 4,816 to 5.33 million. The US had the most cases at 51.02 million, up 95,343, and the most deaths at 819,315, up 549.
