American Suspect Arrested in Bangkok

The Thai Central Investigative Bureau (CIB) convened a press conference to address the apprehension of an American suspect at a condominium in Bang Phlat, Bangkok, accused of coercing women into prostitution in the United States.

Identified as Mr. Selva, a 37-year-old American, the suspect was apprehended based on a Thai Criminal Court arrest warrant for charges including human trafficking, physical assault, kidnapping, and other serious offenses.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) collaborated with the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Attorney General’s Office to alert the CIB about Selva, who had reportedly fled to Thailand. Acting on this information, the CIB launched an investigation into Selva’s case, which involved charges such as assault in the second degree, strangulation, first-degree kidnapping, coercion, and additional offenses, totaling 11 charges.

Selva had failed to appear in the United States District Court for the District of Oregon as scheduled after a previous bail arrangement. Subsequently, he had been residing in Thailand for three months before his arrest. Reports indicated that Selva frequently changed locations to evade authorities and frequented entertainment districts in Bangkok. He allegedly invited Thai women to his temporary residences.

Following extensive police inquiry, the CIB successfully apprehended Selva at a condominium in Bang Phlat, Bangkok. Plans are underway for his deportation to the United States to face legal proceedings.
