Man commits suicide after killing his 2 daughters
A Thai man has committed suicide, but only after he had used a shotgun to shoot and kill both of his young daughters.
A constructor worker shot his two young daughters – one of them died instantly and the other died at the hospital – and then used the same shotgun to shoot himself to death in their house in Pong Namron district of Chanthaburi province on Sunday (Sept 17).
The three dead victims were identified by police as Mr Boonserm Pitpan, a construction worker who also worked as a village defence volunteer, Ms Prapassorn, 5 year-old, and Ms Noppasorn, 9 year-old.
A police team from Ban Plaeng police station, led by Pol Cpt Chanin Thammasarntiboon, the deputy inspector for inquiry, was rushed to the house in Tambon Thepnimit after being alerted by the victims’ neighbours.
They found Boonserm lying dead in front of the cupboard with a service shotgun pressed between his knees. His two daughters were found in front of the TV screen with Noppasorn, wounded on the left chest, still breathing. She was rushed to Pong Namron district hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Three shotgun spent shells were dropped on the floor. Police also found what was believed to be Boonserm’s suicide note scrawled with the victim’s handwriting on the mirror and bedroom’s door.
Boonserm’s younger brother told the police that, before the fatal shootings, Boonserm had a fierce quarrel with his wife after he failed to persuade her to return home. Then he took his two daughters home and then shot them to death before committing suicide.
