17-Year-Old Arrested for Fatally Stabbing 19-Year-Old in Pattaya

A 17-year-old male has been arrested for fatally stabbing a 19-year-old during a confrontation in Banglamung, Chonburi.

According to Banglamung Police, the incident occurred on March 13 at a house that also operates as a boat repair shop. The victim sustained a fatal stab wound under his left ribcage, which pierced his heart, leading to his death at Banglamung Hospital. Following his confession, the suspect was taken to recreate the crime scene as part of the investigation.

The Crime Scene

The stabbing took place inside a residential area at the back of the shop. Police discovered blood stains near a sofa, along with a 32-centimeter-long knife and its sheath about a meter away, which they took as evidence.

Suspect’s Confession

The suspect, identified only as Win, admitted that he had attended a birthday party at 11:00 AM on March 13. Upon arrival, he saw the victim, Mr. Jeab, celebrating. The two had a history of conflicts, as Mr. Jeab frequently made disparaging remarks about him.

Before the incident, mutual friends attempted to mediate a conversation between them, but tensions escalated when Mr. Jeab allegedly insulted Win, saying, “You won’t get far in life.” Furious, Win left the party, retrieved a knife from the kitchen, returned, and stabbed the victim, causing him to collapse.

Win then fled but later returned after learning that Mr. Jeab had been taken to the hospital. He called his mother and decided to surrender to the police.

Background of Their Conflict

Win revealed that he had known Mr. Jeab for nearly two years, and at times, they had even lived together. He was the one who introduced Mr. Jeab to his group of friends, and they had business dealings together. However, Win felt that Mr. Jeab frequently belittled him, leading to a strained relationship. The final insult at the birthday party triggered the deadly attack.

Family and Witness Reactions

During Win’s confession, his 53-year-old mother, Mrs. Rinyarat, was present. Win knelt in tears, apologizing to her. She later shared that Win had called her, confessing to the crime, which left her shocked and devastated. Although she was aware of their recent conflicts, she never imagined it would lead to such a tragic event.

Ms. Ororn, the 18-year-old birthday celebrant, confirmed that the two were attempting to reconcile before the incident, but she was unaware of the specific conversation that led to the fatal stabbing. After the attack, she immediately called an ambulance and alerted the police.

The suspect is currently detained at Banglamung Police Station, facing legal proceedings for the crime.
