14 Injured, Including Foreigners, as Bus Crashes into Pole in Phetchaburi

At least 14 passengers were injured when a long-distance interprovincial bus crashed into a public water pipe and power pole in Phetchaburi province early Friday morning.

Accident Details

🚍 Incident: The crash occurred at 4 AM on Phetkasem Road in Khao Yoi district, as the bus, traveling from Ranong to Bangkok, lost control and veered off course.
🏥 Injuries: All injured passengers, including several foreigners, were rushed to Khao Yoi Hospital for treatment.

👥 The bus carried 36 passengers, including 12 Myanmar nationals and 12 foreign tourists from Germany, France, and the United States, according to Pol Lt Gen Naiyawat Phadermchit, commander of Provincial Police Region 7.

Driver’s Confession

🗣 Rakchat Phukaew, the bus driver, admitted that he fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the accident, as reported by Manager Online.

Authorities are now investigating the incident and considering potential legal action against the driver to ensure accountability and improve road safety measures for long-distance bus travel. 🚔
