Famous DJ Trin falls to death

Trin “DJ Ko” Ruangkitratanakul, a well-known radio host, died on Friday afternoon after apparently taking his own life from a Bangkok hotel.

According to Pol Lt Col Kittichet Kitisarn, the investigation chief at Thong Lo police station, Trin, 36, died when his body fell into a section of a house next to the hotel on Soi Sukhumvit 20 in the Klong Toey district. Police were notified of his fall about 1:30 p.m.

The body was discovered next to the kitchen door of the two-story residence by police and emergency personnel who raced to the site.

Hotel staff reported hearing a loud noise at the fence of the house next door to them. After checking out, they discovered the body.

According to police, DJ Ko arrived at the hotel by himself prior to the tragic fall. He awoke alone on the hotel’s rooftop, according to closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, and no one followed. In the video, he can be seen five times coming and going from the fire exit door before heading to the rooftop and falling to his death.

At the scene, the officers discovered his cell phone, a blood-stained bathrobe from a hotel, a keycard, cigarettes, and a lighter. They were looking into it since they thought he had leaped to his death.

Trin’s parents and older sister claimed they had no idea why he had killed himself. The family was still unsure of what motivated him to take this particular step.

His mother said that her son had no ongoing medical conditions or issues at work, and that she was still in shock over his untimely passing.

The Nataraja Award for best radio entertainment and music show host went to DJ Ko of 106.5 Green Wave radio.
