Motorcyclist Fatally Crashes into Car at 160 kph

A fatal collision occurred on Saturday morning, May 4th, on a bypass road in Chonburi, resulting in the tragic death of a motorcycle rider. The rider, reportedly traveling at a speed exceeding 160 kilometers per hour, collided with a Toyota Fortuner at around 9:30 AM, specifically at kilometer marker 1+400 on Bypass Road 36 in the Nong Pla Lai sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.

Responding to the scene, officers from the Banglamung Police Station and Sawang Boriboon rescue workers found a severely damaged black Yamaha XMAX motorcycle and its rider, identified as Mr. Boonchanit Phrachan, who succumbed to severe limb and neck injuries. Mr. Phrachan, an e-commerce department employee and website administrator, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Examination of the motorcycle’s speedometer indicated a speed of over 160 kilometers per hour at the time of the collision. Nearby, a white Toyota Fortuner exhibited significant rear damage, including the dislodgement of its spare tire, which was parked at the scene by its driver, Mr. Thawachai Wiseschan, 33, who was with his sister after a doctor’s visit. Mr. Wiseschan reported hearing a loud noise from the back of his vehicle and discovered Mr. Phrachan’s body upon investigation, noting the absence of braking sounds.

Authorities suspect that Mr. Phrachan may have attempted to overtake another vehicle at high speed, failing to notice the parked Toyota Fortuner. Banglamung police will review CCTV footage to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the accident. Mr. Phrachan’s body was transferred to a nearby hospital for further procedures.
