Drug and assets seized in raids on 20 properties

Police impounded assets and arrested six people during raids in Bangkok and Pathum Thani aimed at suppressing online sales of illegal drugs on Thursday morning.

Officials targeted properties linked to a gang called Gerøge Häper in Sai Mai, Chom Thong and Bang Mod districts of Bangkok and Lam Luk Ka district of Pathum Thani.

Assets impounded included houses, title deeds, 13 vehicles, 900,000 baht in cash and bank accounts which showed more than 100 million baht in transactions.

Six suspects named on arrest warrants were arrested.

They included Charoenchai Kalaphruek, 29, a suspected gang leader who allegedly used the Facebook account named Gerøge Häper and chat apps to communicate with drug buyers. Deliveries were made by accomplices and couriers.

Pol Lt Gen Sarayut said that during the three-year operation narcotic suppression police had impounded assets from the gang worth a total of 64 million baht.
