Chinese Nationals Arrested in Call Center Scam

The Region 2 Police, after receiving a tip about the rental, carried out a raid on a villa that Chinese nationals had been renting for more than three months, according to the Pattaya News.
A total of 16 Chinese, including 12 men and 4 women, were discovered working online in four different homes in the villa neighborhood. The police confiscated numerous electronic devices.
The housekeeper, a Thai woman named Ms. Pannarai Wongsut, informed investigators that she was paid 7,000 baht per month. She did the dishes and grocery shopping for the villa. She had no idea who hired the Chinese laborers or how much they were paid, but she did know that they were paid around 49,000 Thai Baht per month.
Mr. Petch, the villa’s security guard, told authorities he had no idea what the Chinese were up to and that it wasn’t his place to pry. Petch said that for three months, the party barely left the villa, relying on the maid to do nearly all of their shopping and errands.

Though some suspect that more conspirators are located in China, the Region 2 Police are continuing their investigation in order to take further legal action and uncover the bosses behind the contact center scam.
