Bolt and motorbike-taxis sparks governance concerns

The current fight between Bolt and Bike-Taxis has brought up new worries about how Pattaya’s public transportation is run. A video about a fight between the two groups that was shared on social media on September 11 quickly went viral and led to calls for better rules.
The video showed a Bolt driver getting into an argument with five motorbike-taxi drivers. Commenters were angry, and some said things like, “If this isn’t fixed, we can’t trust local government,” and “Who would even think about taking one of those motorbike-taxis?” to show the need for better motorbike-taxis.
When asked by a reporter, both sides of the fight denied having anything to do with it. The fight happened near the Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping center. Pattaya’s ongoing fights between Bolt and bicycle taxis show how much better rules are needed in a city that gets hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.
Local leaders and worried citizens are calling for quick action to fix these problems and make transportation safer. As this problem gets worse, there are new questions about how Pattaya’s transportation system is run.
