On October 25, the ministry’s Secretary-General, Traisulee Traisornkul, declared that the Interior Ministry had allowed nightlife in Thailand to continue until 4 AM. On Tuesday, the Cabinet accepted a plan to extend nightlife hours by two hours to boost the home economy.
The project aims to promote high-season tourism and spending, Traisulee said. Traisulee said any tourism-potential locations can request an extension provided they meet the Interior Ministry’s standards, which have yet to be revealed.
She added that the ministry did not want to choose the locations to prevent discrimination charges.
If a province or region can meet the Ministry of Interior’s requirements, they can apply. The Prime Minister will declare the approved locations depending on readiness, Ms. Traisulee stated.
The particular conditions were not disclosed.
The next cabinet meeting will adjudicate extensions. The Minister of Interior will approve the idea before publication in the Royal Gazette.
