ONE Championship striking star Superlek Kiatmookao has praised retiring icon Liam Harrison as a role model for future generations of Muay Thai fighters following Harrison’s final bout.
Harrison, known as “The Hitman,” concluded his illustrious career after succumbing to Seksan Or Kwanmuang in the ONE 168 co-main event in Denver on September 6. The 38-year-old British Muay Thai pioneer announced his retirement after realizing he could no longer compete at the highest level in ONE Championship.
In a poignant moment, Superlek congratulated Seksan immediately after the fight in the hallways of Ball Arena, just before he entered the Circle himself and secured a swift knockout of Jonathan Haggerty in just 49 seconds to claim the bantamweight Muay Thai title.
For Superlek, the evening was bittersweet. Although he trained alongside Seksan throughout the week in Colorado, he has a long-standing friendship with Harrison, a former teammate at Yokkao.
“Liam is the best,” Superlek told the Bangkok Post backstage, reflecting on Harrison’s final fight. “Don’t be sad; I believe that Liam is a legend. He’s a great example and a role model for all future fighters.”
Seksan also spoke warmly of Harrison after their thrilling match at Ball Arena, which captivated the crowd. The bout ended dramatically with a third knockdown in the second round, securing a TKO victory for Seksan and sending Harrison into retirement on a high note.
“I am extremely happy and grateful that Liam chose me for his final fight,” Seksan shared during the post-event press conference at ONE 168. “I absolutely love him; he is an absolute legend of the sport.”
