Six-Year-Old Girl Attacked by Neighbor’s Pit Bull in Nonthaburi
Incident Details
A six-year-old girl was seriously injured after being attacked by a neighbor’s pit bull while she was sleeping. The incident took place on Thursday evening at a single-storey house in Pak Kret district, Nonthaburi, where the child was left vulnerable without a fence around the property. Buapetch rescuers arrived at the scene around 8 PM to find bloodstains and scattered belongings inside the house.
The Attack and Rescue
The child suffered multiple bite wounds, most of which were to her head. Fortunately, several neighbours managed to subdue the pit bull before the rescue team arrived, likely saving her life. The girl was rushed to Pak Kret Hospital 2 for immediate medical attention.
A 48-year-old neighbour, who helped during the rescue, reported hearing the girl cry out and entered the house to remove the dog. He used a wooden stick to hit the dog’s head, causing it to release the girl. The girl’s father, sister, and grandmother were also present at the scene when the attack occurred.
Another neighbour, aged 27, described the pit bull dragging the girl from her bed when he arrived at the house.
Details About the Dog and Its Owner
The pit bull, named Sola, was a seven-year-old male that lived in a house behind the one where the attack occurred. According to the dog’s owner, 54-year-old Montien, Sola typically stayed indoors but had escaped after a neighbour accidentally left the door unlocked.
Ms. Montien expressed her regret over the incident, stating that Sola had never attacked anyone before. She explained that the dog was usually kept in a cage or allowed to roam around the house under supervision.
Aftermath and Legal Action
The girl is currently under close watch at the hospital, and Ms. Montien’s brother has already visited her. The child’s family has filed a formal complaint with the Pak Kret police, and the owner has apologised, assuring that she will take full responsibility for the attack.
The incident highlights the risks posed by dangerous animals in residential areas and the importance of securing pets, especially those known to be aggressive.
