OUT OF BOUNDS – Phuket beaches are now closed

The Phuket Governor has issued an order to close all the beaches in Phuket in the latest measure to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The order has followed a decision by the Phuket Communicable Disease Committee to which the Phuket Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana chairs, came after 8 pm on March 28th.

The order is effective as of immediately and will remain in effect till at least April 10th.

On the same night, a separate order was issued for Bangla Rd, in Patong to be closed to all people and traffic with the exception of local residents will also be effective as of now.

Patong Municipality has designated the authority to work with the Phuket Provincial Health Office to test for the virus in the Bangla area and to clean and sanitise any risk areas in the vicinity.

The order to close its beaches has come after Governor Phakaphong earlier in the day that kindly asked the help from local residents and tourists to remain in their residence from 8:00 pm till 03:00 am unless there is an urgent errand.. this is for both Thai and Local residents.

At Phuket’s Check Points at the North end of the island, all traffic onto and off the island must pass all people will be screened.

All zoos and other places where animals shows can be seen have also been ordered to close and anyone seen violating this order will be punished under the Emergency Decree Act.
