Noel Gallagher was not impressed with Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 9, branding it “absolute nonsense.” During a TalkSPORT appearance on February 11, the Oasis frontman revealed, “I had to switch it off. There was like 300 people getting out of a car in the first two minutes.”
When asked about his favorite past halftime performances, Gallagher admitted he typically doesn’t watch them. “I don’t like the halftime nonsense; it’s usually artists I don’t like. I never watch it; I’m not interested,” he stated.
Gallagher expressed skepticism about the integration of music and sports, saying, “Americans are taking over our sport… in 20 years, it will all be nonsense.”
Lamar’s performance at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans was historic, becoming the most-watched halftime show of all time with 133.5 million viewers, surpassing the Super Bowl’s average of 126 million viewers. This performance also made Lamar the first solo rapper to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show, featuring surprise guests SZA, Samuel L. Jackson, and Serena Williams.
