Manchester City 1 West Ham United 0: Sergio Agüero Penalty Puts Him In Golden Boot Pole Position – Report. Highlights. Comments + Ratings

Manchester City Remain Second – Sergio Agüero Penalty Seals Narrow City Victory.  Agüero Takes Lead in Golden Boot Race

Manchester City kept up their pursuit of Liverpool but overall it’s an advantage to the Merseyside giants as City’s goal difference lead has been cut from ten to six.

Sergio Agüero

West Ham’s game-changer, Felipe Anderson, changed this game in a totally different way when referee Stuart Attwell adjudged that he’d fouled Bernardo Silva in the penalty box to give City a penalty. It looked soft and one that VAR might have reversed. Agüero stepped up and sent keeper Lukasz Fabianski the wrong way for the only goal of the game.

Pattaya One. Bernardo Silva.

Golden Boot Race

Agüero, eight goals in his last five league games, has now jumped to the front of the Golden Boot race. He’s taken over from Mo Salah and at this rate, he looks a good bet to win the race.

Leading Contenders

  • 1. Sergio Agüero – Manchester City. 18
  • 2. Mo Salah – Liverpool. 17
  • 3. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Arsenal. 16
  • 4. Harry Kane – Spurs. 15
  • 5. Sadio Mané – Liverpool. 14

Last season Salah finished out in front with 32 goals which left him two in front of Harry Kane. Agüero, who suffered from injuries, managed 21 in 25 appearances. Mané, back in fifth place, has scored six in his last six games and could be a contender if he maintains that form.
