Police arrested five suspects at a rented house in Lam Luk Ka district, Pathum Thani province, seizing 6.4 million methamphetamine pills that were destined for distribution in the South.
The suspects—four men and one woman—were apprehended at around 4 p.m. on Saturday in the Pruksa 17 housing estate in Tambon Lad Sawai. Authorities discovered the methamphetamine pills packed in bundles at the location.
According to Pol Maj Gen Adit Charoensawat, commander of the Narcotics Suppression Division 3, detectives suspect that the drugs were trafficked from the North and stored in Pathum Thani for later distribution.
The suspects had rented the house for three months, and the pills were intended for sale in the South. Many of the suspects had previously been imprisoned for narcotics offenses and had returned to the illegal trade after completing their sentences.
One of the detained suspects told police that he had driven to Ang Thong province, where the drugs were loaded into his vehicle. He then returned to the rented house in Pathum Thani, where the drugs were repackaged and distributed to buyers, mostly in the South.
