Police from the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) seized fake lubricating oil, worth over a million baht, from a warehouse in Chaloem Phra Kiat district of Thailand’s central province of Saraburi today (Thursday).
Police found 20 tanks containing fake lubricant and many cans of different sizes bearing two popular brand names, some of which had already been filled.
Pol Maj-Gen Anan Nanasombat, commander of the CPPD, warned consumers to exercise caution when buying lubricating oil and to avoid cans which are not tightly sealed or cans with traces of external oil staining.
The owner of the fake lubricant will face charges of, among other things, producing fake lubrication oil for sale and engaging in a business which can pose health hazards without a licence.
Yesterday, police from the Economic Crime Suppression Division raided three locations and seized fake dry cell batteries worth over 3 million baht.
The raid followed a complaint by Panasonic Corporation about online advertising for the sale of the company’s dry cell batteries.
