Despite calls for e-cig legalisation, Thai police still retain a harsh ban on all kinds of vaping devices as they arrested two Thai e-cigarette vendors last night in Pattaya with over 100 pieces of vaping equipment.
Both arrests took place around 10:30 PM in Pattaya’s Tree Town Market. The first vendor, named Mr. Thawee Taweechan, 50, was nabbed red-handedly while selling e-liquid with fruit fragrances on the street. Police told The Pattaya News that they also seized 43 pieces of vaping equipment from him.
Then, the officers arrested another suspect, Mr. Krisada Sangsawang, 20, while he was brazenly selling vaping devices on a table. The man, however, claimed that he did not own any of the seized 62 vaping equipment pieces because he was only an employee. He was hired for 300 baht a day to sell the devices, according to him.
Police took both men to the police station for legal action. They said they would expand an investigation to find the real owner of the vendor as claimed by the second suspect, although Krisada claimed that he didn’t know the name or contact details of his employer.
