District Chief Pisit Sirisawasdinukul oversaw a crackdown on entertainment establishments with a focus on a tavern on South Pattaya Road that had been flouting rules.
When the authorities entered the restaurant around two in the morning, they found more than fifty customers drinking alcoholic beverages while dancing. After the officials had told the staff to turn down the music and switch on the lights, they began a careful review of the identity cards presented by customers to check that they complied with any age limitations that were in place. Urine tests that were subsequently administered to those in attendance revealed that two of them had detectable levels of banned substances.
An examination of the men’s restroom led to the discovery of clear zip-lock bags carrying banned narcotics, which were subsequently taken into custody as vital evidence. The manager of the location was immediately called in for questioning after being instantly called. The bar was issued an official citation for operating illegally, selling alcohol beyond the permitted hours of operation, and breaking licensing requirements in the process.
