An American man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport following the discovery of 1.1 kilograms of heroin concealed inside perfume bottles by customs officials.
On Saturday, Customs Department spokesman Phantong Loykulnanta disclosed that customs and police investigators had conducted a search of the man’s possessions, whose identity was not disclosed, suspecting him of transporting narcotics from the United Kingdom on Thursday.
Mr. Phantong mentioned that the suspect was en route to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, via Suvarnabhumi.
During the inspection, a quantity of heroin hidden in perfume bottles was uncovered. The value of the drugs was estimated at 3.3 million baht.
The man was then handed over to the Airport Interdiction Task Force for further processing.
The Customs Department further reported that its agents had made 59 narcotics-related arrests from October 1 of the previous year to February 15, resulting in the seizure of drugs valued at 342 million baht.
