Vincent Kompany Eyes Crystal Palace Star Adam Wharton for First Bayern Munich Signing
Bayern Munich are reportedly keen to sign highly-rated Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, talkSPORT understands.
The 20-year-old has impressed since joining the Eagles in February from Championship side Blackburn Rovers. Wharton, who has assisted three goals in 16 appearances so far, is currently on a five-and-a-half-year deal at Selhurst Park.
However, Palace might be tempted to sell for a significant profit on the midfielder, who they signed earlier this year in a deal potentially rising to £22.5 million.
talkSPORT reported earlier this month that the Eagles would consider a ‘big offer’ for the youngster.
Should a deal be completed, Wharton could become Vincent Kompany’s first signing at Bayern after he was announced as their new head coach. Wharton may not be the only notable departure from Palace this summer, who have thrived under Oliver Glasner.
talkSPORT understands Manchester United are confident they can sign Michael Olise, with Palace wanting at least £60 million.
Eberechi Eze has also been linked with a potential exit ahead of next season, given his equally impressive performances.
Wharton made his Palace debut in their 4-1 defeat against Brighton, coming off the bench for the injured Marc Guehi. He has since made 15 starts in the Premier League for the south London outfit and proven to be a key player despite his inexperience.
Although he only joined Palace this year, a move to Bayern would be a huge opportunity for him to shine on the big stage in Germany. Kompany has arrived as boss following the departure of Thomas Tuchel and a campaign that saw Bayern go trophyless for the first time since 2012.
He joins Bayern after a two-year stint at Burnley, who were relegated from the Premier League this season, finishing 19th.
