U.S Navy rescues Pattaya tourism

High season has not been the same for many years now, and just when this year seemed to be the same, the U.S Navy came to shore.

Thousands of hungry and thirsty U.S sailors are in Pattaya for the Cobra Gold joint military exercise and were out last night Spending money and filling in the hole after the Chinese tours left.

Trevor Moss, the U.S. embassy’s assistant attaché for force protection, welcomed sailors from three navy ships and a merchant vessel to Pattaya from Feb. 22-27. They’ll be back after Cobra Gold wraps March 6-10.

Normally the sailors would dock within sight of Pattaya Beach and use busses to travel to Pattaya from Sattahip and Laem Chabang, however this year they came ashore using small boats near the Hard Rock Hotel.

This comes as a massive relief for restaurant and bar owners who have just been nursing empty stools and tables since the start of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Unfortunately, the fear of the Coronavirus had kept many sailors in their hotel rooms so the bars were not as busy as many would have hoped.

Pattaya Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh has asked that Pattaya businesses extend a warm and friendly welcome to the Americans and to be a good host.
