Urban transformation as Pattaya strides towards a wireless city

Wireless pattaya one March 29 2024

Pattaya is making significant strides towards transforming its urban landscape into a wireless city. After successfully removing overhead power lines along Walking Street, the city is now initiating a new project aimed at eliminating unsightly power poles along South Pattaya Road.

The collaboration between Pattaya City and the Provincial Electricity Authority Pattaya branch began the removal process on March 27. Mayor Poramet Ngampichet emphasized that the primary objective of this endeavor is to improve the cityscape, minimize visual clutter, and create a more modern and visually appealing environment.

To ensure smooth traffic flow during the operations, police officers and peacekeeping personnel have been strategically deployed. Mayor Poramet, although acknowledging potential inconveniences, offered apologies and reaffirmed the city’s commitment to enhancing its wireless infrastructure for the benefit of both residents and visitors, according to Pattaya Mail.

Simultaneously, there has been a surge of public concern expressed on Mayor Direct Line’s official Facebook page regarding abandoned cables scattered across various areas in Pattaya. This outcry ensued after the initiation of demolition and restructuring of communication lines along South Pattaya Road by the Public Utility Division of the Pattaya Municipal Electrical Engineering Office, the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) Pattaya Office, and a private company.

Highlighted on March 23 by a concerned commenter was the presence of communication lines hanging above the beach, raising questions about why they were not buried underground as initially expected.

In a separate incident, two audacious thieves brazenly stole electrical wire from a residence in Bo Win, Chon Buri, causing distress among locals. The victim, a hardworking contractor who often spends extended hours away from home, returned from work to find his property ransacked. Surveillance footage captured the thieves, riding a distinct blue Honda Wave 110 motorcycle, scouting around the victim’s house at around 5.07pm.
