Tiktok star seeks justice for son attacked at a pub in Chonburi

TikTok star “Mae Pla,” whose real name is Ms. Nawarat Phurinpuwadon, has reached out to the police in Thailand seeking justice for her son and a friend who were allegedly assaulted by security personnel at a popular pub in Chonburi.

On December 26th, Ms. Nawarat visited the Thai National Police Headquarters to meet with Pol. Lt. Gen. Achayon Kraithong, the police spokesperson, and report the incident that took place on December 24th at an unidentified nightspot in Chonburi.

According to Ms. Nawarat’s account, her son and his friend were enjoying their evening at the pub, a place they had frequented before. After having a few drinks, her son went to the restroom, which lacked a proper lock, and asked his friend to stand guard outside the door for privacy. Suddenly, a group of six to seven security personnel from the pub barged in, accusing them of using illegal drugs. Allegedly, the security guards physically assaulted both victims inside the restroom and later outside the establishment.

As a result of the incident, Mae Pla’s son suffered multiple injuries, including extensive bruising and a broken right eye socket. His friend’s injuries were even more severe, requiring surgery for a head injury, bleeding in the brain, and a broken neck.

Ms. Nawarat clarified to the Thai press that her son and his friend were not engaged in any illegal activities inside the restroom and that the pub guards had misunderstood the situation. Despite the guards surrendering themselves to the Don Hua Lo Police Station after the assault, they were subsequently released. The owner of the establishment offered to cover the medical expenses and has removed all responsible guards. However, Ms. Nawarat expressed concerns about the guards not taking accountability for their actions. To ensure transparency and impartiality in the investigation, she has decided to seek the intervention of the national police.

Ms. Nawarat, also known as Mae Pla, is a popular TikTok star in Thailand with over three million followers.
