On Sunday night’s Klang Sai Sam Road in Pattaya, a Thai actress lost consciousness and drove her minivan into nine other vehicles and a restaurant. There were no reported injuries, and there was no evidence of alcohol in the actress’ system.
On Sunday, December 11, the event took place in front of a late-night porridge store on Pattaya Klang Sai Sam Road.
Sin, the 49-year-old owner of the porridge shop, claimed that he was in the kitchen when the Toyota Alphard minivan smashed into his establishment and that he was unable to witness how it happened.
When he stepped outside after hearing a crash, he saw that his shop and some surrounding automobiles had been completely wrecked.
According to Sin, Kamonwan “Elle” Suthinphuak, the female driver, came out of the debris and did not appear intoxicated.
She admitted to Sin that she fell asleep behind the wheel and hit the vehicles—cars, motorbikes, and his store—while driving. The 34-year-old woman assured him she would make up for his losses. Sin continued, saying that at the time he was unaware the driver was an actor.
At the Mueng Pattaya Police Station, Elle submitted to an alcohol test, and the results were negative.
Elle disclosed to her followers that she attended her aunt’s birthday party with her mother and younger brother in an Instagram picture that included a certificate proving her zero alcohol test result. She then left for a hotel, but while driving there, she collapsed and became uncontrollable.
Many Thai internet users questioned the incident, stating it did not make sense for someone to pass out while operating a vehicle unless they were under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
Netizens also questioned why she would operate a vehicle while suffering from an illness that causes her to black out. Elle retorted that she typically hires a limo but since the distance was small, she opted to drive. Elle stated that she has no health problems despite having frequent blackouts.
According to Section 43(4) of the Land Traffic Act, the 34-year-old actress was accused of careless driving and endangering another person’s property. Due to the charge, she may be subject to a 400–1,000 baht fine.
