In Sam Khok, Pathum Thani, police officers responded to a report of a fatal dog attack involving a 67-year-old woman who was out riding her bicycle. Rescuers and paramedics from Sam Khok Hospital attempted CPR, but the woman, identified as Ms. Daeng Thamthanta, tragically succumbed to her injuries after being severely mauled, with deep wounds covering much of her body.
Investigators found a large blood trail on the road and bloodstains on her bicycle, approximately one kilometer from where the attack occurred. The dog’s owner, 48-year-old Ms. Kiatkanok, shared that the dog, named “Poi Kai,” had been part of their family for five years, along with seven other Thai dogs. Although Poi Kai had never shown aggression previously, he had recently attacked two family members and her youngest daughter, who is still undergoing daily wound care. Ms. Kiatkanok believes the dog escaped from his cage on the day of the incident and is now seeking assistance from the Watchdog Foundation, as she can no longer care for him.
Local authorities have documented the scene and transferred the victim’s body to the Ministry of Justice’s Forensic Science Institute for further examination.
