Soi Cowboy waitress found strangled to death
Yesterday morning, a waitress from Bangkok’s infamous Soi Cowboy was found beaten and strangled to death of the third-floor of an empty building just steps from her workplace.
The building she was found in was undergoing construction on Sukhumvit Soi 23, around the corner from the red light district. People nearby reported hearing her cries the night before but didn’t dare to intervene, fearing for their own safety, reported Daily News.
The woman, only identified as 27-year-old Saranya, was last seen late Wednesday with a man reported to be a deserter from the Thai military with no stable address, according to Thong Lor police. They have called him “Tee” and said that she may have had an ongoing relationship with him that involved frequent assaults and him borrowing money from her.
Pol. Lt. Col. Athiphong Sripho of Thong Lor police is leading the investigation and searching for the man.
Saranya was discovered Thursday morning by construction workers that showed up to work on the empty building wearing grey shorts and a sky blue top, but partially unclothed with her underwear visible.
Police reported that she was “good-looking” and many men were attracted to her.
She appeared to have been strangled with a rope and beaten in the head, with the time of death placed at least ten hours before she was discovered. An autopsy will be performed to find out more.
