Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchai Jindakuansanong, the Commander of the Chonburi Provincial Police, held a press conference on February 1st to announce the surrender of Mr. Prawet. The suspect turned himself in at around 6:00 AM in Baan Krak, Nong Pla Lai, after a 24-hour police search. Accompanied by his team, Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchai confirmed the surrender during the press conference.
According to initial questioning, Mr. Prawet admitted to the shooting and claimed that personal revenge was the motive. He stated that he had ongoing conflicts with the deceased, Mr. Panya Khayanngan, who was formerly his friend, over the past year. Mr. Prawet further alleged that two days before the shooting, Mr. Panya had organized an attack on him through a group of associates, which led him to seek revenge.
The police have detained Mr. Prawet for further questioning. They are also conducting a search for the firearm used in the crime, as Mr. Prawet confessed to discarding it near an abandoned warehouse.
