Security guard and Girlfriend Heist

Following a break-in in which more than 9 million baht were stolen from a renowned company, police in the Nong Bua Lam Phu province found a security guard and his girlfriend hiding in a rented room. The suspect, a 41-year-old man, and his girlfriend, a 27-year-old Cambodian national, were detained on suspicion of “joint theft of an employer’s property while damaging personal and property obstacles or passing through such things in any way” at night.

The arrest was carried out in accordance with a warrant (No. 799-800/2566, issued on October 12, 2023) from the Thonburi Criminal Court. His fiancée was charged further for “entering and residing in the kingdom without permission” as a runaway foreigner. The arrest occurred at Ban Rong Nam Sai, Moo 11, Kud Din Chi sub-district, Na Klang district, Nong Bua Lam Phu province, in an unidentified rental room close to the Kud Din Chi fresh market.

The following items were seized during the arrest: 1,117,000 Baht ($30,619) in cash, 168 $100 US bills, numerous pairs of earrings that resemble diamonds, priceless amulets, gold rings, commemorative banknotes, three mobile phones, a set of burglary tools, a pickup truck, and an unregistered Yamaha motorcycle. According to KhaoSod, the commodities seized had a combined market worth of 9 million baht (US$ 246,710).
The arrest happened as a result of a theft allegation to Bang Mod Police from a business in Bangkok’s Jomthong area. The security guard Amphon and his wife Toy Tem were found to be the perpetrators after an investigation by the police. After obtaining a court order for their arrest, the Bang Mod Police managed to corner them in their Nong Bua Lam Phu hotel room.
The aforementioned confiscated items were found together with 2,708 methamphetamine pills, a short revolver-style firearm, a black fabric gun bag, 24.380 calibre bullets, and 13.380 calibre (hollow point) bullets during additional inspection of the property.

The suspects admitted to committing the theft during questioning that they did so to pay for their unborn kid. The money might have been used for drug purchases, given that Amphon tested positive for drug use, but a medical examination detected no evidence of pregnancy in Toy Tem. The investigator received the suspects and the seized goods so that legal action could be taken.
