The case of German businessman Hans Peter Walter Mack, who was abducted, killed, and dismembered in Nong Prue District, Chonburi Province, prompted Deputy Commissioner of Police Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakpal to order the police to eliminate foreign criminal gangs in Pattaya, he said on July 14.
He gave the order to gather information on all gangs operating in the Nong Prue, Chonburi Province, and the Pattaya area, as well as to monitor foreigners who enter Thailand without a job, while driving a Harley Davidson, sporting gang tattoos, or on a retirement visa. Their visas should be revoked by immigration officials, who should then return them.”Thai cops won’t let these individuals enter Pattaya to seek sanctuary or commit crimes. Therefore, whether they are the Badidose or the Outlaws, immigration agents must look into and disband all gangs,” he stated.
After destroying the criminal organizations in Pattaya, according to Pol. Gen. Surachet, their members will flee the country. Wherever weak government officials are present, these organizations will move in. The immigration agency must therefore take its obligations seriously.
He instructed detectives to charge the defendants in the Mack Murder with premeditated murder, a crime that is punishable by the death penalty. The four suspects are 52-year-old German Nicole Frevel, 47-year-old German Petra Christl Grundgreif, 27-year-old Pakistani Sharukh Karim Uddin, who is also a Thai citizen, and 52-year-old German Olaf Thorsten Brinkmann, who owns the property where the police found Mack’s body. The final defendant was merely accused of concealing and hiding the body.
Police hauled Uddin before the Pattaya Provincial Court on July 14 to ask for his custody. Uddin spoke to the media while sobbing. I did not commit murder, so it wasn’t me. I feared the worst.
On security footage, Uddin is seen loading the freezer into the suspect’s home, where Mack’s body was hidden, while seated in the pickup truck’s back seat. He was detained in a Kanchanaburi hotel on July 13 and charged at Nong Prue Police Station in Chonburi Province.Uddin’s brother admitted that he was frightened, saying that Olaf coerced him into taking part. He insisted that he was unrelated to Mack’s passing. He was terrified of meeting Olaf and worried that he would be murdered while incarcerated.
