Following a string of mishaps involving international tourists on both highways and walkways, Pattaya is experiencing an uptick in concerns regarding the safety of tourists. Reportedly, travelers have tripped over road stubs and walked on cracked sidewalks, leading to a variety of injuries, including broken noses and damaged ribs.
This worrying pattern adds to earlier incidents of falls among foreign visitors, particularly along Soi Wat Boonkanjanaram, the road that leads to Jomtien Beach. The mayor of Pattaya, Poramet Ngampichet, has addressed ongoing concerns about safety, with a focus on the city’s streets and walkways. The Mayor said that although some changes were made in response to earlier worries, these measures were implemented under the previous government.
Mayor Ngampichet has proposed a strategic initiative, requesting the Department of Highways to carry out an extensive review of Pattaya’s pavements and lighting systems, in an effort to solve the urgent safety problems. Underscoring the importance of this inspection, the mayor wants to find any flaws and fix them to improve safety for both locals and the increasing number of tourists who are coming to our dynamic city.
