In order to reduce traffic and make it simpler for international visitors to get to the beach, the Thai resort city of Pattaya plans to construct four monorail lines. The four lines’ routes and durations were revealed during a meeting of the city government, during which the plan was unveiled.
The 9.9 km Green Line, which will connect to the city’s planned high-speed train station and, in turn, to the east coast airports, both of which are now undergoing expansion, will serve as the starting point for construction (see related reading).
There will be 13 elevated stations along this line, and it will come to a finish at Bali Hai Pier, from which visitors can take boats to Koh Lan Island.
The Yellow Line, which will connect with the city of Chon Buri in the southern portion of the province, will also be under construction at the same time.
After these initiatives are finished in 2026, construction will start on a second phase, which will include the Purple Line, which will connect Bang Lamung in the north with Nong Prue in the east of the city.
A third phase, to be completed from 2032 to 2036, will follow this one’s completion in 2031. This will stretch from the city’s dolphin roundabout to the Chaiyaphruek in the south.
