Pattaya aiming for 27 Million visitors in 2024

Pattaya is set to break tourism records by attracting 27 million visitors in 2024, according to Urai Mukpradapthong, the director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Pattaya office. This target seems achievable, as the number of tourist arrivals in 2023 is expected to reach its goal of 23 million.

Pattaya’s popularity among domestic and international tourists surged in the last quarter of 2023, partially thanks to the visa exemption scheme, stated Ms. Urai. The city’s diverse range of attractions, including sports facilities and convention centers, contributed to its reputation as one of Thailand’s most beloved tourist destinations.

To promote and boost tourism, Pattaya City frequently hosts events and activities with support from the Chon Buri provincial administrative organization. Additionally, the city participates in road shows and trade exhibitions in various European and Middle Eastern countries.

With over 70,000 three to five-star hotel rooms, Pattaya has ample accommodations to cater to a large number of visitors. In 2023, the top five countries responsible for international visitors to Pattaya were Russia, India, China, South Korea, and Vietnam.

Thanks to the success of the previous year and well-planned campaigns for this year, Pattaya has high hopes of welcoming up to 27 million tourists in 2024, mentioned Ms. Urai.

In a separate development, Koh Phangan, an island off the Surat Thani province in southern Thailand, attracted more than 20,000 tourists during the New Year’s Eve celebrations. Most of the attendees were foreigners who came to experience the full moon party countdown.

The event featured various entertainment options like concerts, fireworks displays, and a wide range of food and beverage offerings from local restaurants and vendors. Mr. Somchai Ruangchan, a senior provincial official, described the festival as extremely popular among international tourists who came from around the world to celebrate the year-end and witness the first sunrise of 2024 on the island.

To ensure the safety of all visitors, the province mobilized resources and collaborated with the marine and tourist police, as stated by Mr. Somchai during the event.
