A 191 Emergency Call Center received a report of a stabbing at a well-known mall in Koh Samui, where one person was severely injured.
Emergency responders arrived to find Rinrada, a 23-year-old trans woman from Bo Phut, Koh Samui, lying in a pool of blood. Despite swift efforts to transport her to Thai International Hospital, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Investigations revealed that Rinrada had been stabbed seven times in critical areas, resulting in severe blood loss and her eventual death, as reported by Daily News.
The suspect, Chokchai Intharak, 23, from Thung Tao Mai, Ban Na San, Surat Thani, was apprehended by mall security. He had also injured himself with the knife used in the attack. Police took him into custody and provided medical treatment for his wounds.
Pol Col Den Duang Thongsrisuk, Chief of Bo Phut Police Station, questioned Chokchai, who admitted to being in a relationship with Rinrada for over two months. Their relationship had been troubled, marked by frequent arguments and jealousy, especially after Rinrada would show Chokchai pictures of other men.
On the day of the incident, Chokchai had sent money to Rinrada to purchase motorcycle accessories, including a shock absorber and brake line. When Rinrada failed to deliver the brake line and instead showed him a picture of another man, claiming he was her new boyfriend, Chokchai’s anger escalated.
He went to the mall where Rinrada worked and used the brake line to strike her. When Rinrada resisted and took the brake line from him, Chokchai pulled out a knife and attacked her in a fit of rage. The police are now pursuing legal action against Chokchai Intharak.
