License of Beach Chair Vendor Revoked Due to Regulatory Violations

Deputy Mayor Wuthisak Rermkijakarn took swift action on June 27 by issuing an administrative directive to cancel the license of a beach chair vendor in Pattaya. The vendor’s license was revoked for breaching Chapter 2, Article 10 of the Pattaya City Announcement, which outlines the regulations and procedures for managing beach chair enterprises in Pattaya, Jomtien, and Koh Larn Island.

The specific infraction involved the requirement that vendors personally oversee their businesses and are prohibited from subcontracting or delegating operations to others, as stipulated in Chapter 4, Article 41 of the same proclamation. Non-compliance with this directive renders the vendor’s activities unlawful, potentially resulting in a maximum imprisonment of six months, a fine not surpassing 50,000 baht, or both penalties under Thai legislation. Additionally, a daily penalty of up to 25,000 baht may be enforced for each day the violation persists, as detailed in Section 80 of the Public Health Act, B.E. 2535 (1992) and subsequent revisions.

City authorities emphasized that the license revocation underscores the city’s dedication to maintaining regulatory standards and ensuring equitable business practices on Pattaya’s beaches. This emphasizes the significance of adhering to local statutes governing seaside operations.
