Koh Larn Island waters turn light murky green

Koh Larn Island waters turn light murky green

Over the weekend of August 19–20, the pristine shores of Koh Larn Beach in Pattaya experienced an extraordinary phenomenon as the sea waters turned an exquisite shade of green.

This amazing incident comes just two weeks after a comparable occurrence on Koh Larn’s Ta Waen Beach and Ta Yai Beach, which attracted observers with its vivid hue.

Interestingly, despite the hue shift, tourists embraced the chance with enthusiasm, swimming amid the strange aquatic environment and loving the emerald waves.

The fascinating “plankton bloom,” a recurring occurrence that temporarily changes the hue of the sea, is responsible for the phenomenon.

At the beginning of the rainy season, this mesmerizing sight usually graces the coasts for three to four days when freshwater mixes with seawater, giving it a vibrant green tint.

It is acknowledged as an annual occurrence and presents no risks to the environment or to tourism. As daily life goes on in this scenic area of Pattaya, tourists continue to appreciate the beaches’ beauty and taste the unique aquatic experience that nature provides.
