Weather forecasters have warned of summer storms with hail in the North, Northeast, Central Plain and East from Sunday to Tuesday as a high-pressure area moves in from China.
Puwiang Prakammin, director-general of the Meteorological Department, said on Sunday that strong winds, thunderstorms and hail could be expected in some areas.
He said severe weather conditions could hit the following areas of Thailand:
- the northern provinces of Kamphaeng Phet, Lampang, Lamphun, Phetchabun, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Sukhothai, Tak and Uttaradit;
- the northeastern provinces of Amnat Charoen, Buri Ram, Chaiyaphum, Kalasin, Khon Kaen, Loei, Maha
Sarakham, Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Roi Et, Sakon Nakhon, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, and Yasothon;
- the central plain provinces of Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Chai Nat, Kanchanaburi, Lop Buri, Nakhon Sawan,
Ratchaburi, Suphan Buri, Saraburi, Uthai Thani and greater Bangkok; and
- the eastern provinces of Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, Chon Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo and Trat.
On Tuesday, storms were forecast in:
- the northern provinces of Kamphaeng Phet, Phetchabun, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Sukhothai, Tak and Uttaradit;
- the northeastern provinces of Buri Ram, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Loei, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Ratchasima,
Nong Bua Lam Phu, Sakon Nakhon, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani;
- the central plain provinces of Chai Nat, Kanchanaburi, Lop Buri, Nakhon Sawan, Saraburi, Uthai Thani and greater Bangkok; and the eastern provinces of Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo and Trat.
