This morning, July 3, 2023, around 6:45 A.M., a tree fell on an unnamed foreign man who was sitting outside a convenience store at the bottom of Soi Pratumnak 5. The man, who appeared to be Caucasian and in his 60s or early 70s, was reportedly seated next to the tree and convenience store when the big tree abruptly fell, landing partially on top of him, according to witnesses.
The man who was partially pinned by the fallen tree, according to witnesses who wished to remain anonymous, was freed by using a car jack. The individual appeared conscious and alert and was sent via ambulance to a local hospital. Although his condition was uncertain, it didn’t seem life-threatening. The man was rescued from under the tree by a number of good Samaritans, including motorbike taxi drivers, local visitors, and convenience store staff.
If there would be any accountability, ownership, or blame for the fallen tree hitting an uninvolved bystander, it was not immediately obvious. Early in the afternoon, the scene had been cleaned and the fallen tree removed.
