Navy officer shoots ex husband in self defence

A courageous navy officer in Sattahip shot a violent ex-husband who was assaulting his ex-girlfriend on the street out of self-defense. One gunshot struck the suspect squarely in the testicles, stopping him in his tracks before he could hurt his ex-partner.

The naval officer, who has only been identified as Chief Petty Officer First Class Thanongsak, 48, was waiting at the scene of the event with a gun he had taken from the suspect, Mr. Lit, 38, and disarmed. Thanongsak claims that after Mr. Lit fired at him and he attempted to stop Mr. Lit from beating his fiancée, he shot Mr. Lit in self defense with his own weapon. The incident happened in Soi Mankaew in the Samaesan subdistrict of Sattahip district, Chonburi province, at 1:30 AM on Saturday, July 1st. According to sources, Mr. Lit was shot twice, once in the abdomen and once in the testicles, by Thanongsak using a 9mm pistol. The rescuers quickly took him to a nearby hospital because he was in critical condition.

Multiple gun shells were removed from the scene by Sattahip police who responded to the event. They also discovered Ms. A, who has had her name changed for her security, Mr. Lit’s ex-girlfriend, sitting in her car with a cracked windshield, visibly shaken by the incident. Thankfully, she didn’t suffer any significant wounds. Ms. A testified that Mr. Lit, her ex-boyfriend, was waiting for her at the front of her house when she bumped into him while returning home alone in her pickup truck. Ms. A claimed she broke up with him a long time ago, but for months he had been stalking her and seeking a reconciliation.

Ms. A attempted to reverse her automobile to go away after she realized that her path had been obstructed. Mr. Lit opened the door and started to help her out when he suddenly discharged his revolver at her, shattering the windshield. Chief Petty Officer Thanongsak, who was close and had heard the ruckus, rushed to help and pulled Ms. A away just in time for Mr. Lit to turn and shoot at him. Officer Thanongsak fired back in self-defense after the bullet missed, knocking Mr. Lit to the ground.

The naval officer said he was merely trying to shield Ms. A from her abusive ex-partner and did not run away. Meanwhile, Sattahip police announced that they will later interview Mr. Lit to get his perspective on the situation.

Netizens hailed Officer Thanongsak highly for what they perceived to be his bravery in defending a helpless woman.
