Embezzlement of 41 million Baht results in man's arrest in Bangkok

The Thai Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB) caught a 52-year-old man named Mr. Chaloam at a condo in Bangkok’s Bang Kapi neighborhood. In September of last year, 2022, the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases issued an order for the man’s arrest.
Chaloam is admitting that he broke the Financial Businesses Act and stole money while working for a government agency or office. The CIB says that Mr. Chaloam has fully admitted to the charges.
In 2016, Mr. Chaloam was a member of a group at the Center for the Promotion of Buddhism Foundation that was in charge of running the organization. He and other suspects who have not yet been fully named by the CIB stole 41,045,966.67 baht from the foundation. The monk Phra Kru Palad Suchart, who is in charge of the foundation, found the mistakes and the missing money. He then made a report with the Metropolitan Police Division 3, which started the investigation.
