Army troops seized 7.8 million methamphetamines pills and some crystal meth in Chiang Rai province on Friday night but the drug mule managed to flee.
Troops manning a checkpoint on Doi Luang-Wiang Chiang Rung Road in Tambon Dong Mahawan, Chiang Rung district, spotted a pickup truck without a licence plate approaching at about 9.45pm.

Troops searched the pickup and found the meth pills in 39 bags as well as two bags of crystal meth. Third Army Area commander Lt Gen Wichak Siribansop told a press conference Saturday mornning that the crystal meth weighed about 50 kilograms.
