Drug suspect caught, 400,000 speed pills seized

A major drug suspect was arrested with more than 400,000 speed pills during a police raid on his house in Thung Song district on Thursday.

A team of police raided the house in tambon Tham Yai following information that its owner was a major drug trader in Thung Song and nearby areas, said Pol Col Natthawut Thongthip, chief of Thung Song police.

Sitthipong Thongkrachang, the owner of the house, was also known “Sia Jo Thamyai’’.

Upon seeing the police, Mr Sitthipong, who was sitting in front of the house, tried to flee, but he was subsequently caught.

During the search, police found 1,216 speed pills, a small amount of crystal methamphetamine and a 9mm pistol with bullets. The officers later searched his Toyota Vios parked in front of the house and found some 400,000 speed pills hidden inside, said Pol Col Natthawut.

The suspect was taken to Thung Song police station for further interrogation. The investigation would be extended to find others involved in the drug trade.
