Tranquil night was disrupted by an early-morning rescue operation at a local condominium. A distressed mother reached out to the Rescue Centre in the early hours of November 25, fearing that her daughter had been drugged and was unconscious in a condominium located on Soi Wat Boon Kanjanaram in South Pattaya.
Police and rescue teams hurried to the scene, and upon arriving at Building A, they encountered a locked door that was quickly opened with assistance from the condominium staff. Inside, they discovered a perplexing scene: Lattrell, a 28-year-old Filipino man, was found unconscious on the living room floor in only his shorts. In the bedroom, Chanisara, also 28, was similarly unresponsive. Rescue personnel administered immediate first aid and transported both individuals to a nearby hospital for urgent care.
The initial examination of the room revealed no signs of a struggle or forced entry. However, the potential source of the problem was readily apparent: a box of cannabis-infused cookies, shaped like astronauts and promising a “floating” experience, was found on the table, with one cookie missing and empty packaging discarded in the bin. This suggested a scenario of accidental overconsumption.
Chanisara’s mother, who had alerted authorities, disclosed that her daughter had called in distress, claiming she had been drugged. Unaware of the presence of cannabis edibles, the mother expressed her shock at the unfolding events. Preliminary investigations indicate that the two may have consumed the cannabis cookies, leading to them being rendered unconscious due to the intense effects.
Officials have issued warnings about the casual use of cannabis products, especially for those unfamiliar with their potency. “Cannabis edibles can be deceptively strong and can have serious effects if not consumed responsibly,” they cautioned. This incident serves as a serious reminder for the public in Pattaya to approach cannabis products with extreme caution. Further investigations will be conducted once both individuals have recovered.
