The 65-year-old tourist, Lars Reikwike, reported the theft to authorities around 3:30 AM today, November 27, near Pattaya City 8 School. Mr. Reikwike stated that a stranger approached him and successfully snatched a gold ring valued at 40,000 baht, as well as an additional 2,000 baht in cash.

Winai, a 50-year-old motorcycle taxi driver who witnessed the incident, noted that the Swedish tourist appeared to be intoxicated while waiting for a taxi. He described the suspect as someone who “appeared to be transsexual” and suggested that the individual approached Mr. Reikwike with ulterior motives.

“I attempted to intervene to prevent any wrongdoing,” Winai recounted. Unfortunately, despite his efforts, the thief executed the theft, and by the time it was realized, the suspect had already fled the scene.

Winai further indicated that the individual seemed familiar with the area, suggesting that he may be a repeat offender.

Police are currently investigating the incident, although no arrests have been made as of yet. Authorities are reminding tourists in Pattaya to remain vigilant, especially during the early hours. Officers have encouraged residents to report any suspicious individuals seen in public spaces, according to the Bangkok Post.
