A 50-year-old woman was found hanging at her home in Bangkok on Monday (May 4) after her request for social security compensation was rejected.
The body of Nithiwadee Sae-tia was found in her house in Khlong Toei district, said police who responded to the call.
Nithiwadee was a cleaner at a Fuji restaurant which had closed as part of lockdown restrictions during the pandemic crisis.
Her aunt, Prapai Yodpradit, 70, said that two weeks ago she had asked her employers for compensation according to Section 33 of the Social Security Act after working there for four years.
However, her employer said that she was not qualified to receive the money – news which distressed Nithiwadee, said her aunt.
Prapai said she heard a noise from her niece’s room this morning and assumed that she had woken up.
She called her to breakfast but got no response. When she went to check the room, she found Nithiwadee had hanged herself.
