At 5:00 PM on March 9th, 2024, Bang Lamung police responded to a shooting report in Soi Rong Pho, Bang Lamung, Chonburi, after pursuing two suspects linked to motorcycle theft in Chonburi.
Law enforcement forensics units and pertinent agencies were deployed to the scene where an improvised blank gun with a spent shell was discovered nearby. These items were seized as evidence as the area underwent a thorough examination. Emergency services provided initial medical aid to one of the suspects, a 17-year-old whose identity was not disclosed by the police, in serious condition after sustaining a gunshot wound to the left side of their back. The injured suspect was quickly transported to a local hospital for urgent treatment.
Saensuk police reported that investigative units from Banglamung, Mueang Chonburi, Samet, and Saen Suk collaborated on tracking down motorcycle thieves operating in the area. Allegedly involved in stealing motorcycles in Chonburi and smuggling them to a neighboring country, the two suspects were spotted during the operation. When the police attempted to conduct an inspection, the suspects tried to escape. The 17-year-old suspect purportedly brandished a weapon at the officers, resulting in them firing two shots at the ground. Unfortunately, one of the bullets accidentally struck the 17-year-old suspect as they tried to evade capture, while the other suspect managed to flee the scene.
Initial investigations indicate that authorities will delve deeper into the case to ensure accountability for those involved in the criminal activities.
