After missing the March deadline, the contractor for the canopy project at Pattaya Bali Hai Pier has committed to completing the construction within two months. On September 24th, local reporters visited the pier to check on the canopy installation progress and observed that the contractor is accelerating work on the roof, ceiling, and lighting.
The contractor explained that they have divided the installation into segments of 100 meters, leading to notable advancements. If no further obstacles arise, they anticipate the project will be finished in about two months. The canopy is being built to provide shade for tourists and residents, protecting them from sun and rain, with the Pattaya City Council approving a budget of 8.8 million baht for this initiative.
Construction is ongoing alongside repairs to the structure beneath the pier. However, delays in the canopy construction caused the contractor to miss the original deadline, resulting in fines from Pattaya City while they continue working on the project. The canopy’s design features a wave-like structure that enhances the coastal aesthetic of the area.
