Operator has already paid B25,000 hospital bill and offered additional financial compensation
A woman who was bitten by a snake in a movie theater two months ago has declined an additional compensation offer from the cinema operator, which had already covered her hospital expenses.
Kornphapiporn Phok-Imsin, 27, rejected the 6,990 baht offer on Monday, describing it as an insincere attempt at taking responsibility.
On Tuesday, she submitted a petition to Ekapop Luengprasert, an adviser to the Interior Minister and founder of the Sai Mai Tong Rod Facebook page, a popular forum for public complaints.
The incident occurred when she and her family visited a cinema at a shopping mall in the Rama II area. While watching the movie, she took off her shoes and felt something crawling on her feet. After shaking her feet, she experienced a sharp pain and discovered two red spots resembling snake bite marks.
She alerted the staff, received first aid, and was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors suspected a venomous snake bite. Following treatment, she was kept for overnight observation and incurred a hospital bill of 25,000 baht.
After being discharged, Ms. Kornphapiporn promptly filed a report at the Tha Kham Police Station. The theater reimbursed her hospital expenses over a week later, following multiple requests.
Mr. Ekapop stated that he would collaborate with the Tha Kham Police Station on the investigation, emphasizing that this could potentially be treated as a criminal case due to the public safety threat.
