Australian Reporter Accidentally Drops The ‘C Bomb’ During News Bulletin
We’ve seen enough news bloopers to know that live TV is a tough gig – especially when it comes to an awkward Freudian slip.
10 News First presenter Charlotte Goodlet discovered this when she accidentally dropped the c-bomb Monday’s live news bulletin.
Goodlet was presenting a story about a Perth dentist who had been given jail time for treating patients while was meant to be in coronavirus self-quarantine.
“Nataliia Nairn was charged with eight c***s – counts – under the Emergency Management Act,” she said, accidentally omitting the ‘o’ in her pronunciation of ‘counts’.
Ever the professional, she continued: “The court was told her breaches could have had deadly consequences.”
It comes following another embarrassing moment for Goodlet earlier this year, with the reporter taking to Instagram to reveal that her pants had split just moments before a live cross.
Poking fun at the unfortunate timing, Goodlet captioned an image of the pants in question: “Moments before a live cross…..I had some ‘breaking’ news of my own … no one can accuse me of shying away from ‘cracking’ yarns.”
Fans and fellow reporters were quick to praise Goodlet for remaining professional amid the wardrobe malfunction, as well as her ability to laugh off the awkward situation.
“True professional,” wrote Today Extra newsreader Davina Smith, who used to work with Charlotte at Channel Nine.
Lia Harris, also from 10 News First, joked that her colleague had delivered a “ripping cross”.
Nine entertainment reporter Mathew Woolfrey added: “What an ASSignment.”
But Goodlet isn’t the only Perth reporter to have a slip-up captured on live television – Michael Walters also dropped the F-bomb during a post-match interview following a best-on-ground effort against Port Adelaide in 2019.
As well as this, Channel 9 reporter Lana Murphy made headlines for a hilarious gaffe earlier this year, when she she was caught saying ‘f*** my life’ live on air during a 4pm bulletin in Melbourne.
Murphy later took to Twitter to explain that the wrong package featuring the slip-up had been aired, saying:
“Thanks for the love friends & apologies to those who got more than they bargained for on @9NewsMelb. Unfortunately the wrong version (clearly) of a pre-record made it to air but thankfully I have a great boss and I’ll be back on your screens tomorrow. 2020 though am I right?”
